Kilkeel Harbour Visit
Primary Three had a fantastic day learning about activities past and present at the harbour.
We made observations and had discussion about the artefacts in the Maritime Museum. We explored the displays and handled some of the exhibits. We were able to simulate steering a boat and safely navigating the harbour!
Fishbox presented a selection of fish. We were able to make close observations, compare sizes of lobsters and touch the creatures. Some of us were very brave and held the lobsters!
Primary 2 & 3 Children made a donation to the R.N.L.I. Thank you families for your generosity.
The volunteers at the Lifeboat Station allowed us to sit on board the lifeboat and try on some of the safety equipment. We learned about the materials that are used to make the equipment.
We learned that the crew have regular training in First Aid. We were allowed to try out some first aid skills too!
We were reminded how to be safe around water.
Thank you to all at the harbour who shared their knowledge and skills.
Thank you too, to our driver, who took really good care of us all.
A fantastic day out and about, learning about our local area.
